Link to other applications through the python console

I wonder if the Opticks devs have considered the advantages
of linking Opticks to other applications through the python console.
In particular:

- A more developped python interface such as Enthought canopy
or Ipython
- Executing OTB applications (which can be done via python)

R has a package "raster" that allows for raster analysis and several
packages for spatial statistics.

Any comments on the feasibility of using these tools from within the
Opticks python console?

I frequently use OpenCV and scipy/scikits from the Opticks Python
console and I've use Gdal a bit. Since the Opticks Python interface
access data through numpy arrays, you should be able to use any library
supporting numpy.
